Hi, I'm Saurav. I've been writing about chimneys for about five years, and Chimney Cap is where I put all of it in one place. My day job is nursing, so this site is a part-time project. I work on it in the evenings and on days off.

Nursing shaped how I write these guides. At work, a small detail you skip can turn into a real problem later, and chimneys are the same. The wrong cap size, mesh that clogs, or a cap on a flue it was never rated for can mean smoke in the house or a fire risk. So I try to keep every guide clear, careful and honest.

How I research each guide

I don't run a test lab and I don't pretend to. Every product pick on this site comes from published facts that you can check yourself:

• Manufacturer specifications, installation manuals and warranty terms, and each product review links to its source.
• Safety and clearance rules checked against NFPA 211 and the International Residential Code.
• Cost ranges from published contractor and cost guide data, always with the source named.
• The questions homeowners keep asking in forums and comments. If many people get stuck on something, I write about it.

I update guides when specs, prices or products change, and every page shows the date it was last reviewed.

How the site makes money
